ISP Announces Results of Enforcement Patrol
Illinois State Police District 19 Commander Captain Cory Ristvedt, announced the results of an Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrol (OREP) held in White and Hamilton Counties during August.
The patrol provided extra coverage for state police, so officers could focus on saving lives by making sure all vehicle occupants were buckled up.
There were 13 safety belt citations, with a total of 16 citations and 9 written warnings issued by officers.
Captain Ristvedt said most motorists know safety belts save lives, but some ignore their safety and that of their families by neglecting to use belts and child safety restraints. Lives can be saved if people simply, BUCKLE UP.”
The patrols are funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
