The Southeastern Illinois College Forensic Falcons won the Phi Rho Pi Region IV tournament this weekend held at Elgin Community College. SIC’s speech squad took over 70% of their events into finals winning the top gold medal in contention with Harper College receiving the other gold.
SIC took the top four places in individual sweeps, second in debate sweeps, and first in individual events.
Carmi’s Alli Haley brought home a gold medal in Dramatic Interpretation, silver in Speech to Entertain, and Bronze in Duo Interp with partner Zeb Sanderson of Harrisburg.
Britta Suits of Broughton earned a gold medal in both Extemporaneous Speaking and International Public Debate and a silver medal in impromptu, earning fourth in individual sweeps.

Coach Tyler Billman said that he was proud of the team’s performance and it was a good showing heading into next week’s national tournament competition in Costa Mesa, California.
