Zachery Shock appeared in White County court Wednesday and will appear in Hamilton County court Thursday. Wednesday, Shock with his attorney Rhonda Blades at his side, waived his preliminary hearing and formal arraignment. He’s next due in court on his escape and criminal damage to state property charges on September 26th. Thursday, he’ll appear in Hamilton County court on murder and aggravated battery charges stemming from the shooting death of James Berkel back in 2016.
Johnny Tipton waived his right to a preliminary hearing yesterday afternoon at the White County State’s Attorney’s office. The escape charges carry a three to seven year sentence which would be added onto the penalties for the men’s other charges if convicted.
