Shock Sentenced in Murder Case; In Court Wednesday on Escape Charges

In Hamilton County court Tuesday, Zachery Shock pled guilty to second degree murder charges and has been sentenced to 20 years in jail to be followed by 2 years of parole.  Shock also pled guilty to a count of aggravated discharge of a firearm and received an additional 11 and a half year sentence for that crime for a total of 31 and a half years.  Hamilton County States Attorney Justin Hood says he dismissed 2 counts of first degree murder as part of the plea.  Shock will be given credit for 660 days credit for time served and will be responsible for a $3,300 fine as well as other court costs.

The now 24 year old Shock of Dale admitted to shooting, at the time 45 year old James Berkel of Salem in September of 2016.

Back In June, Shock along with two other inmates escaped from the White County Jail.  While one of the inmates was captured just days after, Shock along with federal inmate Johnny Tipton evaded authorities for 3 weeks.  Shock was finally picked up south of Equality, carrying a loaded handgun…Tipton was found a day later in Hardin County.

Zachery Shock will be in White County court Wednesday on those escape charges.
