WASHINGTON – Congressman John Shimkus (R, Illinois-15) released the following statement in reaction to the federal court ruling in favor of the House of Representatives in a lawsuit against the Obama Administration:
“Today’s ruling reaffirms what we’ve known all along – that the Congress, not the President, holds the power of the purse. While the decision does not repeal Obamacare, it is nonetheless an important step toward restoring the Constitutional separation of powers that have been tested to their limits by the Obama Administration.”
In 2014, Shimkus supported the resolution that authorized the House’s lawsuit, which challenged the Obama Administration’s unilateral delay of the Affordable Care Act’s employer mandate and unauthorized payments to insurance companies. More information on the lawsuit is available HERE.
