Sheriff’s Report
White County Sheriff Doug Maier released his November board report to the public Friday morning, pointing out the Carmi-City Jail has 73 inmates; 29 from White County and 52 out of county prisoners.
The sheriff’s department conducted the annual required firearms training at the Carmi Rifle Club in late October. All deputies, correction officers and court security officers qualified. Officers from Norris City and Grayville also qualified under the tutelage of Firearms instructor Deputy Spencer.
Maier included a copy of the 2018 jail inspection report. The report noted 13 improvements since the last inspection and there were no non-compliance issues. Maier commended Jail Adminstrator Byrd Huber and the staff for their hard work to keep the jail in compliance.
