Semi Driver Faces Multiple Drug Charges
Illinois State Police, District 19, headquartered in Carmi, stopped a speeding semi-truck trailer on Interstate 64 Thursday for speeding, which quickly turned into a drug bust.
Tony Maurice Boose, 31 of North Carolina remains in the City County Jail in Carmi this morning facing charges of DUI-drugs, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal possession of alcohol, speeding and a Motor carrier safety log book violation.
Troopers discovered more than 3,000 grams of cannabis, cannabis edibles, cannabis wax, numerous items of drug paraphernalia and an open alcohol container. In addition, over $130,000 cash was also seized from the cab of the truck tractor.
“Once again, this arrest serves as an example of how traffic enforcement can lead to the removal of dangerous drivers and illegal drugs from our highways,” said Captain Cory Ristvedt. “We are committed to keeping our communities safe by removing illicit substances from our roadways.”
The Southern Illinois Drug Task Force and the White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud, assisted Illinois State Police in the investigation.
