A Carrier Mills man had to be rescued by boat after he and a friend went kayaking in rising Saline County waters.
According to a release from Saline County Sheriff Keith Brown, 19 year old Jordan Mitchell and a 17 year old friend were boating on the South Fork Creek south of Carrier Mills, when the kayak overturned. The juvenile was able to make it to shore, but Mitchell was rescued by the Carrier Mills Fire Department. The Saline County Sheriff’s Department, Carrier Mills Police Department, and Saline County EMS also responded to the scene.
Brown stated that the South Fork Creek had risen ten feet in less than 24 hours, and that several people needed to be rescued from flooded cars overnight in Saline County.
