The Carmi Rotary club held a short meeting on Thursday, as President Tom Logan was busy in Evansville, awaiting the birth of a new grandchild, and President-Elect JR Hubele was busy in the fields.
The club used the day’s meeting to discuss several upcoming events. First, the club will be rolling out a new event this year on Friday, July 1st. That evening, starting at 6:00pm, members of the Rotary club and anyone else interested, will be strolling the streets of Carmi serenading the public with patriotic tunes. Songs such as; America the Beautiful, God Bless America, Yankee Doodle Dandy, and many others will be on the bill that evening as Carmi shows the country that we are still patriotic in our little neck of the woods. Anyone wishing to join in can contact any Carmi Rotarian for more information. Anyone wishing to have the carolers stop by your home, simply leave your porch light on between 6:00pm and 8:00pm.
Cindy Conley polled the members of the club about attending an Evansville Otters game this year. The club voted to do so, and the date of July7th was chosen. Of course, the Rotarians are well known rain makers, since the night of the chosen Otters game has almost always been rained out. Anyone making outdoor plans might want to reconsider the 7th of July this year, since it is almost guaranteed we’ll have rain!
Lyn Stephens won the 50/50 drawing for the second week in a row, and for the second week in a row picked the pink ball, meaning she claimed the day’s cash prize.
Randy Adams was named the day’s phantom.
The Carmi Rotary club meets every Thursday at noon at the First United Methodist Church in Carmi. Anyone wishing to learn more about this worldwide civic club is more than welcome to attend a meeting or speak with any Carmi Rotarian.
