The Carmi Police Department is investigating a robbery that took place Sunday night at the Dairy Queen.
At 11:41pm, an employee was leaving the restaurant after closing for the night. Upon getting in their vehicle, an unidentified black male opened the door of the vehicle and demanded the money bag. The employee dropped the bag and a cell phone which the male grabbed and ran toward the back of the building.
The Carmi K9 unit was called to the scene, and officers were joined in the search by Illinois State Police troopers and White County Sheriff’s deputies, but the suspect was not located at that time. Evidence was collected though, and several leads continue to be investigated.
Police are looking for a black male with a medium build in his twenties or thirties and a partial beard. He was described as wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt.
