RLCFCC celebrates Week of the Young Child with Family Reading Night

Children enrolled at the Rend Lake College Foundation Children’s Center (RLCFCC) celebrated the Week of the Young Child Thursday with Family Reading Night. The event was filled with reading and sensory activities, and concluded with a pizza party.

The event was planned and organized by three Southern Illinois University Carbondale interns working at the RLCFCC: Mackenzie Gray, Kristen Mason, and Kayla Williams.

The Week of the Young Child is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) as a way to advocate and raise awareness for high quality early child care. The RLCFCC has been accredited by the NAEYC since 2005 and is currently undergoing reaccreditation for another five years. Enrollment is now open for summer and fall child care at the RLCFCC.
