Celebrate Homecoming with the Rend Lake College Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams next week in a matchup against local rival Southeastern Illinois College. The annual Homecoming celebration is set for tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 15, and includes the basketball games, a dance, and the crowning of the college’s king and queen.
This year’s court is made up of six candidates for queen and six for king. RLC students can cast votes from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Feb. 14 and 15 in the Student Center.
Up for queen are Grace Pytlinksi (Waltonville) representing the Collegiate FFA; Beth Moats (Kennes) of the Culinary Arts Club; Skylyn Simpson (Sesser) representing the STARS program; Taylor Aldridge (Eldorado), member of the Thespian Troupe and Women’s Golf team; Cali Carney (Benton) of the Women’s Basketball team; and Hannah Poynter (Jeffersontown, Ky.) of the Women’s Softball team.
Contestants for king are Wade Hutchens (Ewing), member of the Collegiate FFA; Lane Bradley (Pinckneyville) of the Culinary Arts Club; Tanner Maskey (Springfield), member of the Baseball team; Nick Marlo (Sesser) of the Men’s Basketball team; Conner Jackson (Bluford) representing the STARS program; and Damien Wilburn (Thompsonville) of the Thespian Troupe.
The Warriors and Lady Warriors will host local rival Southeastern Illinois College for Homecoming. The women’s game will tip off at 5 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 7:30 p.m. Coronation will take place during halftime of the men’s game.
The Homecoming Dance will be held after the game until 11 p.m. in the Aquatics Center Lobby. There is no charge for entrance to the dance, and there will be free food and live entertainment. RLC students should bring a student ID.
