Ridership on Rides Mass Transit District buses in White County increased 20.9 percent in
the fiscal year which ended July 31, while ridership in Edwards County nearly doubled.
Just shy of 25,700 riders utilized public transportation throughout White County during
that time frame. In Edwards County, nearly 8,000 riders used RMTD’s services.
“We’re happy to play a part in getting the residents where they want to be whether
that be getting to work, class, medical appointments or just about anywhere,” said
RMTD operations manager Adam Lach. “Being able to meet the transportation needs of
the general public in is something in which we take great pride.”
Throughout the district, RMTD provided transportation to more than 680,000 riders over
the course of the previous fiscal year.
RMTD is the largest rural public transportation district in Illinois covering nearly 18 counties in
the southern and east central part of the state. It has served as the public transportation
provider in White County since 1989 and Edwards County since 1998.
