Phoenix Rehab Files for Bankruptcy

Phoenix Rehabilitation & Nursing Care Files Bankruptcy

WROY/WRUL News has learned that Phoenix Rehabilitation and Nursing Care has filed for a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in the Southern District of Illinois Courts, and an order of relief has been entered in the case.

The filing of the case imposed an automatic stay against most collection activities. This means that creditors generally may not take action to collect debts from Phoenix or Phoenix property. For example while the stay is in effect, creditors can not sue, assert a deficiency, repossess property or otherwise try to collect from the debtor. Creditors cannot demand repayment from debtors by maile, phone of otherwise. Creditors who violate the stay can be required to pay actual and punitive damages and attorney fees.

One may check the documents filed at the bankruptcy clerk’s office or through Public Access to Court Electronic records at pacer.gov

WROY/WRUL hopes to have further details on the bankruptcy sometime next week, as the principals listed in the documents were not expected to be available until next week.

Phoenix operated the nursing facility after the hospital closed in the facility that now houses Carmi Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing.
