A civilian tip helped lead authorities yesterday morning to discover a wanted Evansville woman and a second individual in possession of more than 30 grams of methamphetamine. Officers with the Indiana State Police with assistance from the Posey County Sheriff’s Office and Vanderburgh law enforcement descended on North Locust in Poseyville around 11am after receiving information that 42 year old Christie Smith was at a residence there. When officers arrived, they arrested Smith, who was wanted out of Vanderburgh County for two felony warrants without incident. While inside the residence, they discovered a small amount of pot, drug paraphernalia, a controlled substance and nearly 32 grams of meth. That find led to the additional arrest of 29 year old Anthony Crawley, who was also inside the home. Both Smith and Crawly are currently behind bars at the Posey County Jail.
Smith is charged with the two Vanderburgh County Felony Warrants, one for escape and a second on a petition to revoke. New charges include Dealing Meth a Class 2 Felony, Possession of Meth, a Class 3 Felony, and possession of a syringe, a Class 6 Felony. In addition, she picked up 3 more misdemeanors.
Crawley is being charged with Possession of Meth, Maintaining a Common Suisance and misdemeanor charges related to marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
