Carmi native Brandon Smith has always been a creative and luckily he’s been surrounded by mentors who saw his gift, encouraged, and nurtured that growth and exploration. When Smith isn’t working in the mine, he’s building industrial sculptures that have been featured across the tri-state. He’s even been commissioned for pieces on display right here at home and has a new exhibit opening at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Mt. Vernon, IL later in March. In this episode of Open Line, Jc sits down with Smith to learn more about his beginnings, his process, and the artist’s future.
