The One-Room School located on E. Robinson Street in Carmi will hold an Open House on Corn Day, October 12, 2019 from 10:00 – 3:00. This one-room school (Rudolph School) was originally located east of Carmi on the Howard Ackerman farm. It was relocated to its present location by the White County Retired Teachers in November, 1994. After undergoing extensive renovation it looks very much like it did when it was built in 1882 except the original structure had a basement which was very rare for one-room schools. The museum was officially opened to the public on Corn Day 1997. There are many pictures, class registers, and other memorabilia that will bring back many memories to those who attended a one-room school. It will also intrigue and educate those who never experienced attending a one-room school. We hope you will stop by during Corn Day.
