Official Details of the 140th White County Fair

Tonight kicks off the 140th Annual White County Fair and with plenty of incorrect schedules out there, you can count on WROY/WRUL News for up to date, correct information.  Things will get underway with the White County Fair Queen Pageant this evening at 7 under the grandstand.  Carnival rides are not expected to be in operation this evening as they’ll have to be inspected by the state today.  Food booths will be open however and it’s possible, while rides won’t be open, some of the game tents will be available for those who can’t wait to get on the midway.

Tomorrow, the Fair really gets moving.  It’s a free night in the grandstand as is tradition for harness racing.  The horses pulling sulkies get started around 6pm.  The carnival is expected to be in full operation on Tuesday and it’ll be the first of two Kids Nights at the Fair.  Armbands for rides will be just $12 for unlimited rides.  Bingo will also get underway in the Floral Hall Tuesday.  A single session gets started at 6.

Wednesday, will be a Team Demolition Derby event, beginning at 7.  Grandstand admission is set for $10.  Carnival armbands for unlimited rides are $15.  Bingo is in the Floral Hall again for a single session at 6.

Thursday night is quiet under the grandstand as Motocross will not be a part of the 2018 White County Fair.  The decision was difficult according to fair board members, and it was a late scratch which is why you’ll see that it’s still on the schedule in the fair book.  Money is tight across the state at county fairs and the event, while popular among the event’s core following, hasn’t been well enough attended to keep it from being a financial loss the last several fairs.  It will be the second Kids Night however and Carnival Armbands will be available for $12 again.  There will also be 2 sessions of Bingo in the Floral Hall at 6 and at 8.  In addition, the Fair Board has secured the band Sherwood Story to play as no cost entertainment beginning at around 5:30 to 6pm.

Friday night at 7, the rodeo returns to the White County Fair featuring barrel racing, bull riding, miniature bulls and rodeo clown acts.  Grandstand admission is $10 and there will once again be two sessions of Bingo…at 6 and 8.  Unlimited ride Carnival armbands will be available for $15 each.

Saturday night will be the Open Demolition Derby.  It starts at 7.  Carnival armbands are $15 a piece on the midway and there will be a final 2 sessions of Bingo in the Floral Hall.  Earlier in the day Saturday, the White County Farm Bureau’s Young Leader Committee will once again host the Youth Tractor Pedal Pull.  It gets underway at 5 in or near the floral hall.  All area, from within or outside the county are welcomed to participate.  There will be 3 classes for boys and girls…50 pounds and less, 51 to 75 pounds and 76+ pounds.  The maximum age to participate is 12.  First and second place trophies will be awarded in each class and registration begins at 4:30.

There’s no charge to park at the White County Fair nightly thanks to the generosity and financial support of many local businesses and organizations.
