National Nurse Practitioner Week is held annually to celebrate these exceptional health care providers. Fairfield Memorial Hospital employs four Family Nurse Practitioners, with two working in a family care setting at Horizon Healthcare, Heather Curtis, APN, FNP and Sherry Mewes, APN, FNP. Wayne Stennett, APN, FNP, serves as Hospitalist at Fairfield Memorial Hospital, while Renee Kohlman, APN, FNP provides care to patients in Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Urgent Care.
Fairfield Memorial Hospital has some of the finest Nurse Practitioners delivering care. FMH has supported the community by bringing several Nurse Practitioners to serve near and around their hometown area. These Nurses Practitioners create a foundation of empathy and optimism, which is vital as they stand as visible leaders while delivering the quality of care FMH strives to provide. As Nurse Practitioners they each work directly with patients to diagnose and manage the most common illnesses and many chronic illnesses. They perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, provide counseling and education, and write prescriptions. Nurse practitioners can serve patients in a variety of settings including serving as primary care providers.
