NCOE Board Of Education Meeting Was Held Monday Night

The NCOE Board of Education held a public hearing on the 2019-2020 budget prior to the regular board meeting on September 23 and approved a resolution for submission of the budget at the regular Board meeting.

Superintendent Matthew Vollman started overall the district is doing well financially. The annual audit report reflected the financial good standing. The audit report had minimal recommendations moving forward and the report was approved by the Board.

Student enrollment is down. The 6 day enrollment numbers were presented at the meeting. The district showed an overall decrease of 30 students compared to last year. Mr. Vollman shared with the Board that the incoming kindergarten classes have smaller numbers enrolled than normal.

The Board approved the transfer of $112,000 from working cash to bonds and interest and $124,440 from working cash to capital projects. This cash transfer was needed due to the late property tax payments.

The Board met in closed session at 7:54 p.m. Upon exiting closed session at 8:09 p.m., the Board employed Adison Martin and MaryAnne Salvato as special ed aides. Also, Mr. Wehlermann was reassigned to high school principal from Dean of Students. At the meeting last month, he was assigned Dean of Students while waiting for his certification to transfer to Illinois.

The Board approved the 2019 Teacher Salary and Benefit Report and held the second reading of the Facilities Use Policy.

The meeting adjourned at 8:11 p.m.
