Mt. Vernon’s annual Fall Fest returns September 29- October 1 in Downtown Mt. Vernon. The festival kicks off Friday at 5 p.m. with the Vendors Marketplace and Kids Zone open until 9 p.m. Victoria Leigh & The Savannah Rose Band will perform at 5:15 p.m. At 8 p.m., Murphy 500 will take the stage.
The 2nd Annual 5K for Special Olympics will take place at 8 a.m. on Saturday, the 30th. Participants can register online atwww.active.com. The Downtown Mt. Vernon Cruise-In will start at 9:30 a.m. The Fall Fest “Rockin’ Through the Decades” parade will begin at 10 a.m. this year and parade entries are still being accepted. The annual parade draws over 100 entries each year. The parade will also feature a marching band expo of area schools. The Mt. Vernon Business Women’s Club will host their Great Pumpkin Contest from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. The contest consists of two age groups, kindergarten- 8th grade and High School- Adults. The Tri-State Treasure Hunt for Kids will start at 11 a.m. The Kids Zone this year will feature a Touch of Nature Climbing Wall and primitive escape room. Entertainment will begin at 12:15 p.m. with The Downstate Music Company. Hairbanger’s Ball will perform at 5:15 p.m. and Blessid Union of Souls at 8 p.m.
Sunday will feature blues music with The Kyle Yardley Blues Band beginning at 11 a.m. The Ivas John Band will take the stage at 1 p.m. and Big Mike Aguirre & the Blu-City All-Stars will perform at 3 p.m.
