The following subjects were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
09/09/2016-Mt. Carmel Police responded to a vehicle accident Friday night at the intersection of Railroad Street and Walnut Street. Dezmond A. Reneer, age 25, of Princeton was on Walnut Street when the scooter he was driving struck the back of a black Ford Mustang. Police were told the Ford continued on into Indiana without stopping. Reneer was treated by EMS for minor injuries sustained in the traffic crash. Reneer was then arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with driving while suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Reneer was held pending the posting of $150.00 cash bond. MCPD Officer’s never located the Ford Mustang.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 54 year old Kelley R. Vallette of Albion, Illinois after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident. Police were notified of an accident at the intersection of 9th and Oak Street. Upon arrival police were told that Vallette struck the back of a vehicle being operated by a Charity Bailey. During the course of the investigation the arresting officer noted that he smelled an alcoholic beverage smell coming from Vallette. Vallette was transported to the Wabash General Hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash. Vallette was issued a citation for failure reduce speed to avoid an accident and DUI-Alcohol. Vallette was given a court date of 10/03/2016.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 22 year old Kendal Martin of Grayville and 26 year old Daniel R. Gruffey of Marion, Kentucky after police were called to the 100 block of Pecan Avenue. Police were notified of a disturbance and when they arrived on scene they were told by the victim that Martin and Gruffey had threatened her with a knife and damaged her residence. Police located the two suspects and during the course of the investigation it was discovered that Guffey was wanted on a domestic battery warrant out of White County (Illinois). Both subjects were transported to the Wabash County Jail where they were charged with aggravated assault. Martin was also charged with criminal damage to property. Gruffey was served the White County warrant and held pending the posting of bond.
09/10/2016-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 37 year old Christopher Shelby and 27 year old Logan Stoneberger of Mt. Carmel after they are accused of felony criminal trespass to a residence. Shelby and Stoneberger are accused of entering a residence in the 900 block of Chestnut Street and taking $45.00 from the owner. The two were later located and placed under arrest. Both subjects were transported to the Wabash County Jail where they are being held pending he posting of bond.
