A Mt. Carmel man was sentenced to four and a half years in prison in White County Court on Monday afternoon according to States Attorney Denton Aud.
32 year old Jason Koons was found guilty on one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of driving on a revoked license. Each count carries a four and half year sentence in the Department of Corrections and will be served concurrently. Koons will also be under one year of mandatory supervised release on each charge.
Koons also received a 30 month probation sentence on a charge of aggravated battery, extending his probation period to two and a half years following his release.
Koons was arrested by the White County Sheriff’s Department on April 20th this year following a traffic stop. The investigation was jointly handled by the Sheriff’s Department and the Grayville Police Department.
