A Mt. Carmel man is behind bars following an armed altercation with police officers there. Police authorities report that 39 year old Bradley M. Hughes met officers at the door with a loaded handgun when they responded to his residence on Westwood Drive to address a loud music complaint. Not only did Hughes have the gun in his possession, he allegedly pointed the weapon at Mt. Carmel Police resulting in the officer requesting backup. He eventually laid down the weapon according to the report, but then resisted arrest. To be subdued, Hughes was shot with a TASER. No injuries were reported. Hughes has been charged with resisting arrest and aggravated assault.
A Mt. Carmel woman is behind bars after an astute Police Officer noticed her standing outside a West 10th Street residence. The report indicates the officer knew 27 year old Jaimee L. Dardeen was wanted on an Edwards County failure to appear warrant and took the opportunity to place her under arrest and booked her in the Wabash County Jail. She was held pending $225 bond.
