On 10/22/2016, John Ryan Tennis, age 36, of rural Mt. Carmel was taken into custody in relationship to two armed robberies that occurred in Mt. Carmel.
On October 11, 2016 a male subject armed with a handgun entered Family Video at 520 N. Walnut Street requesting all the money in the cash register. Evidence from that evening was collected and sent to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Several individuals were questioned in regards to that robbery.
Then on October 22, 2016 a male subject armed with a handgun entered Jumpin Jimmy’s at 902 N. Mulberry Street and requested all the money from the register. Jumpin Jimmy’s was then processed by an Illinois State Police Crime Investigator. After several interviews and following up leads Police were able to develop a possible suspect.
It was after several interviews, reviewing taped footage, and speaking with witnesses, MCPD Officer’s were able to apprehend John Ryan Tennis at a friends home and place him into custody. The Wabash County Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services assisted with the investigation.
