The following subjects were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
10/14/2016- Mt. Carmel Police Department arrested 33 year old Derek L. Batterton of Mt. Carmel after he was stopped for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop it was discovered that Batterton was in possession of ammunition without a FOID card and possession of synthetic cannabis. Batterton was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with possession of ammunition without a FOID. The synthetic cannabis will be sent to the crime lab for analysis and further charges could be filed. Batterton was held pending the posting of bond. Wabash County Sheriff’s K-9 assisted in the stop.
10/15/2016- Mt. Carmel Police arrested 27 year old Robert A. Gibson of Lawrenceville after he was stopped for a traffic violation. During the investigation it was discovered that Gibson was operating a vehicle with no insurance and driving on a suspended driver’s license. Gibson was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for the violations and held pending the posting of bond. Suspected drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle and will be sent to the crime lab for further analysis that could result in further charges for Gibson.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested Zachary M. Peach, age 24, of Mt. Carmel was arrested after he was stopped for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop it was discovered that Peach was in possession of ammunition and a firearm without a FOID card. It was further discovered that he was in possession of drug paraphernalia. Peach was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was cited for driving on an expired registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of not having a FOID card. Peach was held pending the posting of bond.
Mt. Camel Police arrested 18 year old Samuel M. Carwile of Allendale after he was observed walking down Bellmont Street in Mt. Carmel. During the stop it was discovered he was wanted on a Wabash County warrant charging him with burglary. When the arresting officer placed Carwile under arrest, the arresting officer located prescription medicine on his person that was not prescribed to him. Carwile was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was served the warrant and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
10/16/2016- Mt. Carmel Police arrested 33 year old Jeremy M. Moore of Vincennes, Indiana after he was found passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle parked in the 800 block of W. 11th Street. Moore was arrested after it was discovered he was driving on a suspended driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and he was cited for unlawful display of vehicle plates on the vehicle. Moore was taken to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond.
