The following subjects were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
09/17/2017-Mt. Carmel Police were called to the 800 block of W. 6th Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. During the investigation it was discovered that an occupant in the residence had methamphetamine making material. That person was identified as Derek L. Batterton, age 34, of Mt. Carmel. Batterton was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with methamphetamine manufacturing material and illegal use of property to manufacture methamphetamine. Batterton is being held pending the posting of bond.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested an Evansville man when he was stopped by police for driving in a reckless manner. Collin S. Smith of Evansville was arrested and charged with driving while license is suspended, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and unlawful display of registration. Smith was also cited for possession of cannabis. Smith was transported to the Wabash County Jail and held pending the posting of bond.
09/16/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 27 year old Austin W. Moore of Mt. Carmel after police were investigating a domestic disturbance at the Mt. Carmel Police Department. Police were able to speak with the complainant who stated that Moore was intoxicated and had a firearm. Police made contact with Moore and he advised he through the gun out of a vehicle while on W. 3rdStreet. Police were able to locate a bb gun on the side of the road. Police arrested Moore on a felony count of disorderly conduct. Moore was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he is being held without bond.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 32 year old Joshua L. Smith of Enfield after police were notified of a disturbance in the 1400 block of W. 3rd Street. When police arrived they observed Smith with a juvenile boy. Further investigation indicated that Smith had got into an argument with a female subject who was a protected person on an order of protection out of White County. Police arrested Smith and transported him to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with violation of an order of protection. Smith is held pending the posting of bond.
09/15/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 52 year old Vince A. Sutton of Mt. Carmel after police were notified that Sutton was in the 1100 block of W. 6th Street. Sutton is accused of entering the residence of a person who is protected under an order of protection. Police located Sutton in the home of the protected person and placed under arrest. Sutton was transported to the Wabash County Jail and held pending the setting of bond.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 40 year old James C. Miller of Mt. Carmel of a Wabash County violation of conditional discharge. Police went knew Miller was wanted on a warrant and knew he was in the 1000 block of Poplar Street. Police went to the address in the 1000 block of Poplar Street and placed Miller under arrest. Miller is being held pending the posting of $1000.00 cash.
09/13/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 34 year old Samantha J. Arnold for shoplifting. Police were called to Family Dollar in reference to a shoplifter. Police arrested Arnold after she left the store with unpaid items from Family Dollar. Arnold was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged with retail theft. Arnold was held pending the posting of bond.
09/12/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 54 year old Bonnie S. Jones of Keensburg after police were called to Family Dollar reference to a shoplifter. Police arrested Jones after she left the store with unpaid items from the Family Dollar. Jones was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was held pending the posting of $150.00 cash bond.
