The following subjects were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
04/21/2016-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 18 year old Jordan R. Monts of Mt. Carmel after he was accused of violating an order of protection. Monts is accused of making contact with a protected person. Monts was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail for processing. Monts was held pending the posting of bond.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 36 year old Shawn P. Barrett of Vincennes after he was stopped for a traffic violation. The traffic stop happened in the 300 block of Walnut Street. The arresting officer discovered that Barrett was operating the vehicle on registration plates belonging to another vehicle. It was also discovered that Barrett was in possession of cannabis. Barrett was placed under arrest and transported to the Wabash County Jail. At the Wabash County Jail, Barrett was also charged with DUI drugs. Barrest was cited for DUI drugs, unlawful display of license plate not authorized for use on such vehicle, and possession of cannabis.
4/23/2016-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 36 year old Damon J. Rutledge of Mt. Carmel after he was accused of violating an order of protection. Police were called to 531 N. Pear Street reference a order of protection violation. When Police arrived they found Rutledge in the area. Rutledge is accused of making contact with a protected person that lives at the residence. Rutledge was placed under arrest and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 43 year old Stacy D. Highsmith of St. Francisville after she was stopped for a traffic violation. Police received a phone call stated that an impaired driver was coming into Mt. Carmel on Route 1 North. The caller advised the driver of the vehicle tossed a bottle from the vehicle causing it to break in the opposite lane of traffic. Mt. Carmel Police located the suspect vehicle in the 800 block of Walnut Street. According to the arresting officer, he witnessed Highsmith hit a curb. The arresting officer made contact with Highsmith and suspected she was DUI. Highsmith was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was cited for DUI. According to the arrest report, Highsmith’s breath test results indicated she was over 3 times the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle. Highsmith was held pending the posting of bond.
