The following individuals were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department. All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
06/12/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 31 year old Charles C. Scearcy of Vincennes after the vehicle he was operating was stopped by MCPD. Officer’s were assisting the Wabash County Sheriff’s Office in locating a suspicious vehicle. MCPD Officer’s located the vehicle as it in came into town and initiated a vehicle stop. Scearcy was found to be driving on a suspended driver’s license and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Scearcy was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond for driving while suspended.
Mt. Carmel Police arrested 26 year old Brock A. Wallace of Mt. Carmel after he was accused of stealing a roommates new bed sheets and then returning them to Wal-Mart for the refund money. Police were called to the 100 block of W. 4th Street where the complainant advised she left the residence and when she returned she noticed her bed sheets missing. MCPD Officer’s checked with Wal-Mart and found out the items had been returned by Wallace. Wallace admitted to taking the item and returning it to the store. Wallace was transported to the Wabash County Jail and charged with theft.
Wallace is being held pending the posting of bond.
06/11/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 18 year old Jacob S. Whetstone of Mt. Carmel after he was stopped by MCPD Officers. During the traffic stop it was discovered that Whetstone was in possession of alcoholic beverages. Whetstone was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with possession of alcohol by a minor. Whetstone was released shortly after his arrest.
06/10/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 38 year old Brian K. McKendree of Mt. Carmel after police observed him operating a motor vehicle in the 700 block of Chestnut Street. The arresting officer knew McKendree was operating a motor vehicle on a suspended driver’s license. McKendree was stopped and placed under arrest. McKendree was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with driving while suspended. McKendree was held pending the posting of bond.
06/09/2018-Mt. Carmel Police arrested three minors for being in possession of alcohol after their vehicle was stopped by MCPD Officer’s. Police stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation and during the stop K-9 Ace indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Police located the alcohol and a small amount of cannabis in the vehicle. Police charged Samuel E. Ewald, age 19, Jorden A.L. King, age 20 and Trevor R. Rhinehart, age 20, with possession of alcohol by a minor. King was also written a citation for possession of cannabis. All three subjects were transported to the Wabash County Jail and were later released. All three subjects are from the Mt. Carmel area.
