MCPD arrest report 5/5 – 5/7

The following subjects were arrested by the Mt. Carmel Police Department.  All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

05/05/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 33 year old Gavin M. Roberts of Mt. Carmel after police were called to 400 block of Elm Street reference a domestic.  The victim claimed that Roberts head butted her and then took a money bag containing her personal belongings.  It was discovered that Roberts left in a taxi and was dropped off at a  residence in the 500 block of Plum.  Police caught up to Roberts and found the stolen money bag.  Roberts was arrested and during a search of his person, police located loose prescription pills on his person.  Roberts was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged with domestic battery, theft less than $300.00, and possession of a controlled substance.  Roberts was also wanted on a Wabash County warrant where he was charged with using another person’s debit card without their permission.  Roberts is being held pending the posting of bond.

Mt. Carmel Police arrested 26 year old Shelby L. Pierce of Mt. Carmel after the arresting officer noticed her driving a motor vehicle in the 800 block of W. 9th Street.  The arresting officer knew Pierce was wanted on a failure to appear warrant and was driving on a suspended driver’s license.  Pierce was stopped and subsequently arrested for the warrant and driving suspended.  Pierce was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was cited for driving while suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.  Pierce was served the failure to appear warrant and was held pending the posting on bond.

05/06/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 40 year old James C. Miller of Mt. Carmel after he was accused of violating an order of protection.  Police went to 1020 Poplar Street to arrest Miller for the warrant charging him with violation of an order of protection.  While police were there at the residence they noticed the protected person was at the residence.  Miller was arrested and charged with a new count of violating an order of protection and served the warrant.  Miller was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond.   A second person was arrested while at the residence.  Police observed Amanda E. Foreman, age 33, of Vincennes in the residence and knew she was wanted for failing to pay for fuel at a local gas station.  Foreman was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged with theft.  Foreman was held pending the posting of bond.

05/07/2017-Mt. Carmel Police arrested 23 year old Seth T. Schalasky of Mt. Carmel after police observed him operating a motor vehicle in the 300 block of N. Walnut Street.  The arresting officer knew Schalasky was wanted on a Wabash County failure to appear warrant and initiated a vehicle stop.  Schalasky was taken into custody and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond.

Mt. Carmel Police arrested 49 year old Ronnie E. Allen of Mt. Carmel after he is accused of yelling at a person protected on an order of protection.  Police were told by the victim that Allen was yelling at him and was within 500 feet of his person.  Allen was located at 330 W. 10th Street and taken into custody.  Allen was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond.

Mt. Carmel Police arrested 25 year old Zachary S. Cowling of Mt. Carmel after he was observed mowing in the 800 block of Mulberry Street.  The arresting officer knew Cowling was wanted on a failure to appear warrant out of Wabash County.  Cowling was arrested and transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was held pending the posting of bond.

Mt. Carmel Police arrested 22 year old Donte Smith of Chicago after police were called to Fastbreak reference a theft.  The complainant advised the subject pumped gas into the vehicle he was driving and failed to pay for the purchase.  Using video surveillance police were able to determine who committed the theft.  Smith was tracked down at the college dorms on Risley Avenue and taken into custody.  Smith was charged with retail theft and driving with no driver’s license.  Smith was held pending the posting of $150.00 cash bond.
