Trey Mason has stepped down as Head Coach of the Carmi-White County High School Golf Teams.
“I just felt like it was time to move on,” said Mason.
Mason has been at the helm since the 2018-2019 season, leading the Bulldogs to a 4th Place finish in the IHSA State Finals in both of his first two seasons.
“I loved spending time with the kids on the golf team and helping them get better. I loved seeing kids overcome adversity and pull out near impossible golf shots. I got a front row seat to some great golf and great golf teams. My favorite memory will be getting 4th at state after the first day of the State Finals was canceled due to snow. My second greatest memory is this year having a boys and girls team qualify for sectional. Both of the groups this year were such great kids.”
Mason is also stepping down from his role as CWCJHS Athletic Director, but he will still coach Junior High Track and serve as the Public Address Voice of CWC Football and Boys Basketball.
“If it weren’t for the parents and the players, I wouldn’t have had the success I did. Golf is a great game that has so many parallels to life.”
WRUL would like to thank and congratulate Coach Mason on his time and dedication to CWCHS athletics!
