In September of last year, a fitness evaluation found Mercer to be unfit.  For the next two months, he awaited transport to a mental health facility according to online court records.  In January, public defender Myra Yelle-Clark was assigned to represent Mercer and just today, he agreed to a plea deal which saw him plead guilty to a count of Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer while the remaining charges were dismissed.  Mercer’s sentence includes 2 years of Conditional Discharge and court costs.  The judge also ordered Mercer to take his medications as prescribed and to continue counseling.  Mercer will be due back in White County court for a review in September.
