WROY/WRUL Local Sports Recap

The Black Diamond Conference released the 2024-2025 Boys Basketball All-Conference Team for the BDC East.

Carmi’s Mitchel Edwards and Gavin Holloman both received all-conference nods with Edwards being named Conference Captain. 

Fairfield’s Justice Dagg was awarded Conference MVP.

Other members of the All-Conference team include:
Jake Phelps – Eldorado
Jax Duncan – Edwards Co.
Cy Nelson – Edwards Co.
Brayton Robertson – Fairfield
Kyler Dennis – Flora
Kaleb Carson – Hamilton Co.
Ethan Kessler – Hamilton Co.

The Girls BDC All-Conference team list is expected be released this week

In IHSA Girls Basketball action last night;

Edwards County fell to Carrollton in the 1A Okawville Super-Sectional by a final score of 62-44.

Mt. Carmel defeated Kankakee-Bishop McNamara in the 2A Tolono-Unity Super-Sectional by a final score of 61-42.
Mt. Carmel advances to the IHSA Class 2A State Finals where they will face Peoria Notre Dame in the Semifinals on Thursday at 2 PM.

For the 2nd straight year, the team that defeated Carmi-White County in the Regional Championship game makes it to the State Finals. 

Nashville defeated Camp Point Central in the 2A Vandalia Super Sectional by a final score of 58-41.
Nashville advances to the IHSA Class 2A State Finals where they will face Chicago Phillips in the Semifinals on Thursday at 3:45 PM. 

The IHSA Boys Basketball Sectionals will begin tonight;

In the 1A Cobden Sectional,
Goreville vs Okawville

In the 2A Carterville Sectional,
Benton vs Breese Central

In the 2A Tolono-Unity Sectional,

Triad vs Mt. Vernon
