The Carmi-White County Boys Basketball team fell to Fairfield back on Friday by a final score of 58-51. 

The Bulldogs led throughout the entire first half until the final minutes when the Mules hit 3-straight three pointers to take a 24-22 lead at halftime. The two teams traded punches in the 3rd quarter, and Fairfield led 39-38 going into the 4th. The Mules started the 4th on an 8-0 run to extend their lead to 47-38, the Bulldogs never could recover. Fairfield took care of the ball and hit their free throws in the final minutes, hanging on for the 58-51 win.

Mitchel Edwards led the Bulldogs in scoring with 23 points.
Kade Stockton scored 9 points.
Gavin Holloman scored 8 points.
Merick Millhorn scored 4 points.
Beck Huff scored 3 points.
Cade Allen & Jaxon Bradshaw both scored 2 points.

With the loss, Carmi finished the regular season with a 13-14 record and 5-5 mark in the BDC.

With the win, Fairfield captures their first Black Diamond Conference Championship since 2021. 

The Bulldogs will begin postseason play tonight as they host West Frankfort at McDougal-Evers Gymnasium. The Redbirds enter tonight’s game with an 8-22 record, as they have lost 9 of their last 11 games.

If the Bulldogs win tonight, they will face Benton on Wednesday in the Regional Semifinals at Hamilton County.
