WROY/WRUL Local Sports Recap

The Carmi-White County Girls Basketball team fell to Mt. Carmel last night in the IHSA 2A Regional Championship at Hamilton County by a final score of 43-21.

The Lady Bulldogs led 8-7 after 1 quarter of play, and Mt. Carmel led 13-10 at the half, but the Lady Aces would outscore Carmi 30-11 in the 2nd half as the Lady Bulldogs shot a combined 1-for-16 from 3-point range on the night.

Carmi-White County ends the season with a 19-10 record, which included their second consecutive Black Diamond Conference Championship. Last night’s loss also marks the end of the career for senior Ashlyn Rager, who battled a foot injury throughout most of her senior season. Rager has been a three-year starter for the Lady Bulldogs, she turns her attention to track season before heading to Illinois Wesleyan University next fall on a volleyball scholarship.

Congratulations to head coach Eric Dixon and the Lady Bulldogs on a great season.
