Back on Friday the Carmi-White County Boys Basketball team defeated Flora in overtime by a final score of 34-33.
With the game tied in the final seconds of overtime, senior Mitchel Edwards drew a foul and hit one of two free throws to give Carmi the lead. Flora’s shot at the buzzer was off the mark and the Bulldogs escaped with their 10th win of the year.
Mitchel Edwards led the Bulldogs in scoring with 15 points.
Gavin Holloman scored 9 points in his return to the floor, he had missed the previous 8 games with an ankle injury.
Merick Millhorn and Kade Stockton both scored 4 points.
Beck Huff scored 2 points.
The Bulldogs improve to 10-13 on the year and 2-4 in the Black Diamond Conference. They will have two more conference games this week, traveling to Eldorado tomorrow before hosting Hamilton County on Friday.
The Carmi-White County Girls Basketball team will travel to Gallatin County tonight to face the Lady Hawks. The Lady Bulldogs enter tonight’s game with a 16-9 record. Carmi will then host Harrisburg on Wednesday and Woodlawn on Thursday for their final two home games of the season.
The IHSA released the Girls Basketball postseason brackets back on Friday. The Lady Bulldogs are the #4 seed in the south Sub Sectional of the Paris Sectional, and they will play in the Hamilton County regional. The Lady Bulldogs will receive a first round bye, and they will play either Hamilton County or Flora on Tuesday, February 18th in the Regional Semifinals.
The Carmi-White County Wrestling team hosted the IHSA 1A Regionals on Saturday. Unfortunately, no Bulldogs advanced to this weekend’s Sectionals.
