As he seeks re-election to Congress this year, John Shimkus has been endorsed by a number of mayors, who understand that service, representation, and reputation are important in fellow elected officials.
The three district-wide co-chairs acknowledge that mayors are elected in non-partisan campaigns, but made several points about Congressman Shimkus in their letter to fellow mayors:
+ “Congressman John Shimkus has been there for our communities.”
+ “When we have had trouble with a federal agency, we have turned to Congressman Shimkus to help fight the bureaucratic red tape.”
+ “We believe that John Shimkus is part of a team that gives us stronger communities, quality representation, and superior constituent service.”
+ “Congressman Shimkus has always stood up for us…our communities need Congressman John Shimkus!”
The district-wide co-chairs were Mayors Billy McDaniel of Metropolis, B.J. Hackler of St. Joseph, and Allen Adomite of Troy.
In White County, Carmi Mayor Jeff Pollard and Norris City Mayor Roy Kissel both endorsed Shimkus.
