Saunders said that last year over 100 people from Carmi and the surrounding community, members and non-members of many area churches participated in the Prayer Walk. They are hoping to draw and even larger crowd at this Saturday’s walk because as both gentlemen said, “Prayer makes a difference.” The Prayer Walk will begin at Veterans Memorial Park across for the Carmi Light and Water office in downtown Carmi. The Carmi Ministerial Association who is co-sponsoring the Prayer Walk along with the local Gideons is comprised of ministerial staff from area churches in the Greater Carmi area. The Association meets once a month on the first Wednesday of the month to organize events and gatherings throughout the year, such as the Prayer Walk, a Thanksgiving Service, a Patriotic Service, and a Good Friday Service. One of the main functions of the Carmi Ministerial Association is overseeing and being a sounding board for the Carmi Compassion Center.
