Little Wabash Continues to Climb

Little Wabash Continues to Climb

Following reports of rain, ranging from 4 to 8 ½ inches, over the weekend, area rivers quickly jumped out of their banks.

The National Weather Service reported the Little Wabash River at Carmi was at 25.4 feet Tuesday night. It is expected to climb just over flood stage and crest Thursday afternoon at 27.3 feet.

Flood stage, here in Carmi is 27 feet.

The Skillet Fork, running through White County to the confluence of the Little Wabash, had been running out of its banks. The flooded areas caused a number of local farmers to kick harvest into high gear as they worked to beat the flood waters.
