Legion Drops Two to Harrisburg

Legion Baseball

It was a tough afternoon in Harrisburg for the Carmi American Legion Baseball team as they dropped both games in a doubleheader to Harrisburg.

Harrisburg won the first game 2 to 1, but came back in the second to rollover the Carmi Legion winning 10 to 0.

Skaggs got the only run in the first game, that coming in the fourth inning. But, Harrisburg scored twice in the fourth and held on for the win.

In the second game, Harrisburg scored five runs in the fifth inning and then repeated that feat in the sixth inning for the ten runs, while Carmi just couldn’t get on the board in the second of the two games.

Lamp took the loss in the first game with Sauls and Mendenhall sharing the duties on the mound in the second game.

The locals are now two and three overall and one and three in the 24th District.

The Carmi team was scheduled to play Poseyville, Ind. Wednesday, but Poseyville was unable to field a team this season, so the next game for the Carmi Legion will be here at home Thursday against Boonville, Ind, game time; 6 p.m.
Saturday afternoon, the locals will host Newburgh, Ind for a double header starting at 1 p.m.
