Legion Baseball; Loss to Boonville
While the Carmi American Legion team put up a valiant effort, the Boonville, Ind. ball club was able to hold Carmi to five runs and won the Thursday night matchup; 12 to 5.
Cole Blazier took the loss on the mound for Carmi.
Carmi got off to a great start with three runs scored in the first inning, as Boonville put up one run in the first. Unfortunately for the Carmi team there were only able to pick up two more runs, one in the fifth and the other coming in the seventh.
Boonville came back in the third to score two, then once in the fourth. The fifth inning was big for Boonville as five runners made it across the plate. Three more runs were scored in the seventh to give Boonville 12 runs.
Scoring for Carmi were Skaggs with two runs, Black, Blazier and Mendenhall each added another run for Carmi’s five runs.
The locals are now two and four overall. They will host Newburgh, Ind, Saturday afternoon at 1 for a doubleheader.
