Legion Baseball; Drop Two
The weather held and Carmi and Newburgh were able to play two Saturday, with Newburgh winning both games.
The first game was a 10 to 7 win for Newburgh. Mendenhall was the losing pitcher, he is now 0 and 1 on the mound.
Newburgh scored twice in the first, three times in the third, another run scored in the fifth and four runs scored in the sixth for the 10 runs.
Carmi scored three runs in the second and then added a run each in the fourth fifth and sixth, but not enough to match Newburg’s 10 runs.
Newburgh won the second game 12 to 8. Ledford took the loss for Carmi. He is now o and 1 on the mound.
Carmi scored first in the second and then added three in the fifth and then four more in the seventh for eight runs, but not enough to beat Newburgh.
The visiting Indiana team scored five times in the fourth, added two more in the fifth and then scored three times in the sixth and capped off the doubleheader with two more runs in the seventh to go up 12 to 8.
The locals are now two and six overall on the season. They host Mt. Vernon, Ind. Tuesday night at 6 and then host McLeansboro Wednesday at 6 for a doubleheader….weather permitting.
