Just when the Carmi American Legion baseball team was well ahead of visiting Fairfield, the rains came in the fourth inning, forcing the game to be called with Carmi leading 3 to 0.
Carmi had scored once in the third inning and twice in the fourth, while Fairfield had failed to get a runner across home plate.
The locals will now travel to Boonville, Ind., Friday night for a doubleheader starting at 6. The Legion players will be back home Saturday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader with McLeansboro, a game that had been rained out earlier this month.
