
Back on Friday the Carmi-White County Softball team defeated Benton by a final score of 7-6.
The Lady Bulldogs fell behind early, trailing 5-0 midway through the 2nd and 5-1 after the first two innings.
Carmi picked up 3 runs in the 3rd inning on RBIs by Eva Attebury, Ashlyn Rager, and Lindsay Simmons to cut the Benton lead to 5-4.
The Rangerettes picked up another run in the 5th, but the Lady Bulldogs would tie the game on a two-run homerun from Torrie Rider, her first homerun of her career. It was 6-6 after 5 innings.
Carmi loaded the bases in the bottom of the 7th, and senior Alayna Johnson walked it off with an RBI single, scoring Ashlyn Rager and giving the Lady Bulldogs the 7-6 victory.
Lindsay Simmons picked up the win for the Lady Bulldogs in her first game of the year, returning from injury. Simmons gave up 6 runs, 3 of those earned, on 10 hits with 5 strikeouts.

Alayna Johnson went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Caroline Simmons went 1-for-2 with a run scored.
Eva Attebury went 2-for-4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.
Torrie Rider went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, 2 runs scored, and a home run.
Ashlyn Rager went 1-for-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.
Lindsay Simmons went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Alex Vaupel went 1-for-3.
The Lady Bulldogs improve to 3-2 on the season. They were supposed to travel to Fairifeld on Saturday for a tournament, but it was canceled due to weather. Carmi is scheduled to travel to Mt. Vernon (IL) on Tuesday.
