Kiwanis Club Hears About One Stop

At their Thursday meeting, the Carmi Kiwanis Club learned about the One Stop Center located in the Southeastern Illinois College David L. Stanley White County Center in Carmi. Larry Harrelson, an employee with the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES), told the club his office can help job seekers and employers.

Harrelson noted that IDES helps jobs seekers “find resources to be job ready.” They offer resume assistance and can help identify barriers as to why someone may be having difficulty finding employment. Through their Business Services Team, they can help connect employers to potential employees. There is no fee involved for those seeking employment or employers.

The One Stop Center also includes a Workforce Investment Opportunity Act Office, which is a federal training program that may be able to provide those who qualify for assistance in training programs for in-demand occupations.

Those seeking more information about the program may contact the Southeastern Illinois College White County Center at 618-382-8869 and ask for IDES.
