January 10th Kiwanis Meeting Recap

Story provided courtesy of club member Greg Grant

The Carmi Kiwanis Club met on Thursday, January 10. President Katelyne Wolff invited the Carmi Key Club members forward to present the Key Club with a $171.00 “Good News” donation. In 2019, the “Good News” fund will benefit Cheer for a Cure.

In other announcements, club members can invite their friends to eat for free at club meetings during the month of January. The club’s annual Pancake Day is February 23. The CWCHS Drama Department will present Grease on March 8-10. Doug Hays won the 50/50 drawing. The club sang “Happy Birthday” to President Wolff.

The program of the day featured the singing talents of Emily Williams and Kelsi Kessler. Emily Williams thanked Katelyne for inviting her to come and sing for Katelyne’s birthday. She introduced her two songs by indicating that their messages were polar opposites. Her first song was “You Ain’t Woman Enough to Take My Man” followed by “Stand by Your Man.”

Kelsi Kessler opened with Patsy Cline’s “Crazy,” a song she came to like by listening to fifties music in the car with her grandmother. Her second song, “Dear Future Husband (Better Love Me Right)” brought many smiles to the room. Kelsi ended with a gospel favorite, “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow.”

The meeting adjourned as Emily Williams surprised Katelyne with a birthday cake and another birthday serenade from the club
