Illinois State Police District 19 troopers investigated a fatal traffic crash that took place in Wabash County on Saturday night.
Just before midnight, authorities say that 54 year old John R Jones pulled onto County Road 1000 E from Friendsville Avenue and lost control of his vehicle, which overturned. Jones was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Wabash County Coroner’s office.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, Wabash General Hospital Ambulance, Mt. Carmel Fire Department, and Snelling’s Towing. A crash reconstruction officer has been assigned to the investigation.
Troopers also investigated an ATV crash in Allendale on Sunday evening that resulted in a man sent to the hospital and facing a list of charges.
According to a traffic crash report released Monday morning, 53 year old Terry R Sherman was driving the ATV north on Route 1 when he overturned pulling into a business parking lot. Sherman was transported to an area hospital by the Wabash General Hospital Ambulance Service. The Wabash County Sheriff’s Department also assisted at the scene.
Sherman has been charged with DUI, driving on a revoked driver’s license, improper operating a non-highway vehicle on a highway, and careless operation of an ATV.
