Illinois State Police District 19 has released more information on the fatal traffic crash that occurred in Saline County Sunday night.
According to the traffic crash report, a GMC Canyon driven by 69 year old Bill Ghent of Harrisburg was struck head on by a GMC Sierra driven by 51 year old Brenda Ward of Harrisburg at 6:42 pm on US45 north of Ledford at Rays Road. Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch.
Ward and 70 year old Linda Ghent were pronounced deceased at the scene. Bill Ghent was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, and then was airlifted to a regional hospital for treatment of his injuries.
An ISP Crash Reconstruction Officer has been assigned to the investigation. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, Harrisburg Police Department, Carrier Mills Fire Department, Saline County Ambulance Service, Williamson County Ambulance Service, Saline County Coroner’s Office, and Bishop’s Towing.
