DEATH INVESTIGATION
ISP Agents Investigate Death of Dayne A. Harrison
Carmi, IL – On May 20, 2019, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance from Illinois State Police Zone 7 Investigations with the death investigation of Dayne A. Harrison, age 25, of Cisne, Illinois.
On May 20, 2019, at approximately 3:30 am, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, along with officers from the Fairfield Police Department and the Wayne City Police Department, attempted to apprehend Harrison in reference to Wayne County and Clay County arrest warrants. Upon making contact with Harrison near 1017 County Road 1725 East in Fairfield, Illinois, he fled on foot into a wooded area. Officers gave pursuit on foot, apprehending Harrison in the wooded area.
Immediately following Harrison being placed into custody he began experiencing medical issues, at which time he became unresponsive. Officers immediately rendered first aid to Harrison, but were unsuccessful. Harrison was pronounced deceased at the scene.
An autopsy was conducted on May 21, 2019, at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield, Illinois. The results of the autopsy are pending. The investigation continues by the Illinois State Police.
