Illinois State Police District 19 troopers investigated two traffic accidents in Saline County on Sunday.
At 2:40 pm, officials say that 67 year old Ralph Williams of Equality was driving north on Pearce Road and turned west onto Illinois Route 13 when he collided with a car driven by 60 year old Cheryl Rister of Harrisburg.
Rister, Williams, and a passenger in his vehicle, 65 year old Shirley Williams were all transported to area hospitals by ambulance. A nine year old juvenile in Williams’ vehicle was flown to an area hospital by Air Evac.
Assisting at the crash scene were the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, Saline County Ambulance Service, Med Force Ambulance Service, Air Evac, the Eldorado Fire Department, and Bishop’s Towing.
At 6:40 pm, troopers responded to a fatal crash on US 45 just north of Ledford that killed two people.
According to the crash report, a GMC Sierra and a Chevrolet Colorado struck each other head on, killing the driver of the GMC and a passenger in the Chevrolet. Both were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The names of those involved have not been released at this time.
An ISP Crash Reconstruction Officer has been assigned to the investigation.
